Gene Sharp: Required Reading for Nonviolent Vaccine Resistance (including 198 ways of nonviolent action)

How can we resist mandatory vaccination and influence a social change to end these tyrannical laws?

We can learn a lot from Gene Sharp, an expert in non-violent resistance, whose work has had global influence. While he does not profess to approach the matter from a Christian worldview, Christians can glean much from his work in terms of practical, non-violent ways of resisting evil.

To the extent they apply in a biblical framework, these tactics can be very helpful for civil rulers whom, applying the doctrine of interposition, would join us in defending life and freedom.

In short, these tactics can be used to pressure the current regime to stop mandating vaccination — or to change regimes themselves with the help of civil rulers concerned with justice.

Sharp understands that violent opposition to tyranny can play into the hands of the oppressors, who normally have far superior means of violence and thus can easily win a contest of force.

However, there are many other means of resistance that can successfully topple tyranny. For instance, tyrannies require a certain degree of compliance to be sustained. Remove the compliance, and the tyrannies topple. What if enough people refused to go along with vaccination (even under threat of arrest)? What if enough civil rulers and law enforcement officers refused to enforce mandatory vaccine laws? Etc.

Back to Gene Sharp. According to the Albert Einstein Institution, founded by the late Gene Sharp,

The Institution has been responsible for the translation and dissemination of some of the most influential texts on nonviolent action. Many of these works have been studied among resistance movements worldwide.

Dr. Sharp’s most popular book, From Dictatorship to Democracy, was first published in Burma in 1993. It has since been translated into at least 34 other languages and was used by the campaigns of Serbia’s Otpor, Georgia’s Kmara, Ukraine’s Pora, Kyrgyzstan’s KelKel and Belarus’ Zubr. …

Dr. Sharp’s writings on civilian-based defense were used by the Lithuanian, Latvian, and Estonian governments during their separation from the Soviet Union in 1991. Lithuanian Defense Minister Audrius Butkevicius declared at the time, “I would rather have this book than the nuclear bomb.”

I highly recommend Sharp’s book “From Dictatorship to Democracy” to all who — especially thought leaders and civil rulers — are concerned about vaccine tyranny.

This book includes an appendix on 198 Methods of Nonviolent Action, but this can also be seen online here. Obviously, not everything here should Christians apply (e.g., “rude gestures” — we still must show respect to civil authorities), but many of these tactics are worth considering.

In addition, Gene’s documentary “How to Start a Revolution” is highly recommended.
